Compliance Magazine in 2005 awarded Premier, "Best in Class" signs for our graphical machine specific lockout procedure. This placard is usually affixed to the main control panel of the designated piece of equipment. This graphical procedure has a topographical drawing of the piece of equipment along with all the energy sources associated to that equipment. The location, shutoff procedure and verification procedure are also identified. Also, energy source tags are affixed to the lockable energy source locations for easy visual access.

Some of the advantages to our lockout visual are that it is displayed on the equipment, one graphic displays all required OSHA information and the information/template is standardized throughout the facility.

Premier, Inc.'s extensive database of industry-specific lockout procedure libraries will be customized to meet your organization's needs. Once a lockout procedure library is defined, Premier, Inc.'s survey technicians will audit your equipment, utilizing state-of-the-art technology, and identify all hazardous energy sources. Premier, Inc. will produce and install machine-specific visual placards, lockout diagrams with lockout tags and more.

OSHA Lockout / Tagout Definition

OSHA defines "Lockout/tagout" as the "ůspecific practices and procedures to safeguard employees from the unexpected energization or startup of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service or maintenance activities. This requires, in part, that a designated individual turns off and disconnects the machinery or equipment from its energy source(s) before performing service or maintenance and that the authorized employee(s) either lock or tag the energy-isolating device(s) to prevent the release of hazardous energy and take steps to verify that the energy has been isolated effectively."
